2016 – £770 donated to charitable causes

BuskingAnother year over and we are chuffed to tell you that in 2016 we donated £200 to the Landmark Garden and £570 to the Beach Clean Group. This was financed by money raised busking and at singarounds so a big thanks to the people of Deal and all the local musicians who have supported us.

We managed to organise another successful trip to Saint Omer with the help of the Twinning Society and although we made a small loss on the venture, it was a lot of fun. We hope to be part of it again in 2017.

We put on two singing workshops with Lizzie Stephens which were very well attended and enjoyed by all.

We also contributed a number of events to the Songs to the Sea festival in September which helped raise over £1,400 for the RNLI.

We’ll be at it again in 2017 because that’s what we do!

Wot, no festival weekend?

Our team of volunteers, hangers-on and ne’er-do-wells here at Deal Folk by the Sea have decided that we will not be running an annual weekend folk festival for the foreseeable future.

We have decided to focus our efforts on smaller scale events which may or may not include singarounds, busking, barn dances, workshops and other nefarious pursuits. Ukuleles may also be involved.

We would like to thank all the people who have contributed to the festival in all its guises over the years and who knows? Maybe one day it will return.

Thanks for supporting us and please keep watching the website for news of our events..
